A wonderful Christmas wreath

Anyone can make one!

Materials and tools:

  1. A rope-covered ring
  2. Binding wire and cutting pliers
  3. Spruce twigs and pruning shears
  4. Cones
  5. A ribbon, preferably with a wire on the edge

Workflow:

  1. Get everything you need
  • A ring of suitable size and wide ribbon with a wired edge from Abakhan. The ring used for this Christmas wreath is 30 cm in diameter.
  • An appropriately flexible binding wire with a diameter of 0.65 mm from a building materials or tools store.
  1. First, prepare the cones. Wrap the wire as invisibly as possible, i.e. around the back of the pine cone between the scales, and secure with a few twists.
  2. Cut the spruce branches well and clean the lower part, ie the binding area, approx. 4 - 5 cm from the branches. 4 twigs are enough for this wreath.
  3. Place the branches perpendicular to the ring – 2 by one and 2 by the other. Place cones on the tree branches, as well as parts of the wire with the tail on one side and parts on the other side. Attach a pair of circles to the binding wire.
  4. Make a ribbon tie at the tie-up spot.

Some tricks:

  • If you pick fresh cones from the forest, it takes about a week for them to go “fluffy” in a warm place, such as in a box on top of an oven or near a stove. ATTENTION! Fire safety!
  • Cones can also be decorated with spray paint, sparkling crumbs, artificial snow and other means.
  • In this piece, the hanging loop for the ring is hidden under the spruce knot, but it can also be left out to hang the wreath.
